The film is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Minister of General Mechanical Engineering of the USSR Sergey Alexandrovich Afanasyev, who played a major role in the development of the rocket and space and defense industries.
After the end of the Great Patriotic War in a destroyed country, Moscow finds the strength to create a nuclear and missile industry.
The new branch was supervised by Lavrenty Beria.
Sergey Afanasyev, a process engineer from Perm, where he worked at an artillery factory, was transferred to Moscow and appointed head of the technical department of the Ministry of Armament.
Afanasyev spent several years at the Southern Machine-Building Plant in Dnepropetrovsk, in 1965 he headed the Ministry of General Mechanical Engineering of the USSR, since 1983 he headed the Ministry of Heavy and Transport Engineering of the USSR. Since 1988, he became a consultant in the group of inspectors General of the Ministry of Defense and until the last days of his life was the chief scientific consultant of S.P. Korolev RSC Energia.
In the preparation of the film, chronicle footage from different years was used, as well as fragments of an interview with Sergei Afanasyev.
The film starred Director of the Klin Museum Association Elena Kondrashina, Chief Specialist of the Ministry of General Engineering (1965-1988) Nikolay Timofeev, Minister of General Engineering (1988-1989) Vitaly Doguzhiev, Minister of General Engineering (1983-1988) Oleg Baklanov, cosmonauts Alexey Leonov, Sergey Krikalev, Vladimir Remek, Miroslav Germashevsky and Abdul Ahad Momand.
